Cucumber diet to lose weight, its disadvantages and dangers, be careful.
Just when we think we have seen everything, a new diet appears, we recently learned that the "Cucumber Diet" had people with a few extra pounds too busy.
This weight loss diet tells you to eat many cucumbers for 1 week, there are even versions of this diet that tell you that you can do it for 2 weeks, but this is dangerous and we do not recommend it.
The theory behind this diet is that this fruit (cucumber) has a lot of water, is very low in calories and will require a good space in the stomach, so you will feel full and you will not have the need to consume other foods.
We couldn't find anything definitive about the rules of this diet, they vary from one website to another, but in general, this should be done:
1. Eat all the cucumbers you can at all meals and snacks.
2. Prepare meals with cucumber as the main ingredient, such as a cucumber smoothie and a cucumber salad.
3. You can add some protein at breakfast, lunch and dinner, such as cottage cheese, hard boiled eggs, tuna or chicken.
4. You can also use small amounts of olive oil
5. Use small amounts of carbohydrates such as brown rice or potatoes if necessary.
We review many websites where they show how a person lost 15 pounds in 1 week, but we bet that these results will soon disappear and that person will quickly regain the weight he had before, in addition to slowing down the metabolism according to studies (link at the end of the description)
When you make such a drastic change in your diet, most of the weight you lose is nothing more than water and glycogen, do you know how much water fits in 2 cups? 1 pound, when you return to your usual diet (since you cannot continue eating like this for life) you will gain the lost weight and refill your jeans.
Our first impression when reading about this new diet was: more than a diet, it seems more like an eating disorder that tries to appear healthy and safe. Why do we say this? Because eating low-calorie foods such as lettuce, celery or cucumbers is a common practice in people with eating disorders.
This type of diet will only put you in a bad mood, tired or even depressed, after the diet the weight is usually recovered by overeating and that can make you feel guilty, which can cause you to start another strict diet or exercise in excess, use laxatives or a magic pill that will make you lose weight effortlessly (not recommended)
This self-harm can continue, making your relationship with food not good, so you will have trouble maintaining a healthy weight.
If after knowing all this information you are still tempted to try this diet, try other options, instead of eating many cucumbers, try another healthier solution.
